Palin Booed as "America's Hockey Mom"

Thinking Governor Sarah Palin could be a lucky charm for the Philadelphia Flyers in Saturday night's game was a mistake. In the successful "NHL Rocks" campaign, they took an extra step by inviting Palin to drop the opening puck at the Rangers-Flyers game for the promotion of finding the "Ultimate Hockey Mom." They thought this would be a solid move for both the Flyers and for Governor Palin. They thought that with a Flyers win and possibly a successful season, Palin could be the lucky charm the team has needed for a while now.
However, that wasn't quite the case when Palin was booed dropping the ceremonial puck in Philadelphia. Many people thought of this as tacky and classless. One person stated that we are a "me/first, everything goes" country and we have no standards due to Palin showing up for this event. Another person said never to throw your politics into the face of a Philadelphian. This event was despised by many and a bad idea for the "NHL Rocks" campaign. Someone said that Philadelphia fans boo everyone, from Santa Clause to a handicapped kid who bounced a ceremonial first pitch. Even so, this was a bad, but funny mistake and not a bright idea as a person working on this PR campaign.

I agree that it was a poor choice to have Palin being involved with the event in that manner. We are in the middle of an intense campaign and any political figure would be criticized and 'booed.'

I am not surprised that Palin was booed. It is starting to appear that the majority of her public appearances are these non-political publicity events (besides, of course speaking at McCain rallies). If she has the time to make an appearance at a hockey game or Saturday Night Live, she should have the time to go on Meet the Press or another political broadcast to share her views and let America know why she would make a good vice president.

Any sports fans know that any Philadelphia fans are the most vile and venomous sports-vultures on the planet.

They booed a retarded kid who bounced the ceremonial first pitch at a baseball game.

They Booed Santa.

They booed a dog for not catching a frisbee during a half-time show.

They did however cheer whenever Michael Irving Broke his neck at an Eagles game.

The point is... They shoulda known better!!! Fire the PR guy!!

Palin should have known better than to appear at a hockey game for publicity. Being from Canada, I know first-off than hockey fans will boo at anything! A lot of people that like hockey just go for the fights! This was a perfect opportunity for those fans to start controversy.

How could anyone think that this would be a good idea? Palin is really not my favorite person on the campaign trail. Her appearance on SNL was so pointless.
