Ticket sales for Avatar increased by 45% after receiving nine Academy Award nominations.
Avatar is also already the the top ticket-seller in Fandango's history.
Many Fandango users also pleased at the fact that the Academy Awards have expanded their category to allow more popular films to compete.
Note: Fandango ticket sales on Tuesday, January 26 (6:00 a.m.-3:00 p.m. PT) – before the nominations were announced – in comparison to Fandango ticket sales on Tuesday, February 2 (6:00 a.m.-3:00 p.m. PT) - after the nominations were announced.

I have not seen Avatar yet but considering its the top grossing movie in the world I think it has a chance to win...just a hunch
It was an amazing movie. It had a decent plot and amazing effects! Figures Titanic could only be topped in highest grossing movie by another film by the same director.
My dad and sister saw Avatar but I'm actually a little freaked out by the animation. I heard some parts are a little awkward. I'll probably see it eventually but its one of those movies that would be much better in a theater. We'll see.
