Twitter Announces New Ad-Supported Business Model
In a blog post Tuesday, Twitter unveiled plans to experiment with an ad-supported model to help the booming technology service gain revenue. The ads would be shown like regular tweets but with the word "promotion" clearly visible so a reader would know the tweet is clearly an ad. Also, the tweet would have the same guidelines as a normal tweet, a 140 character limit and the ability to reply, retweet and favorite the tweet. Most of these tweets would only be seen by users who follow certain brands who have paid for promotional tweets and would only otherwise be seen in search results with the limit of one promotional tweet per search.
