Hotel Industry and Social Media

Hotels are starting to experiment ways to improve service and connect with customers using social media. One way they are doing so is extending concierge services...you can tweet and the concierge can assist you on needs such as finding a good place for kids, finding a restaurant etc. Another way is by on-site merchandising. Hotels can offer special deals through four square for example going to a boutique and receiving a complimentary glass of wine. Hyatt guarantees answers within 24 hours that are posted on their facebook page. Hotels can also offer last minute deals on social media like Twitter. Many hotels use twitter to communicate promotions and remind customers what they are about. I think it is pretty cool that hotels are jumping on board with social media. It is a great way to interact with their customers and be able to give benefits to these customers.
