Colleges Promote Tap Water

Hundreds of colleges around the nation are adding new water fountains called Hydration Stations so students can refill their water bottles rather than buying new ones. More campuses today are banning the sale of water bottles to reduce plastic waste by promoting tap water.

Hydration stations are popping up in airports, parks, office buildinggs and even on tours with well-known bands such as the Black Eye Peas.

"It's the right product at the right time," says Rod Magnuson, of Elkay, which began selling many versions of the staions last year.

Adding to this eco-friendy push is anetwork of over 800 restaurants and cafes nationwide that will allow people with reusable bottles free water refills for years to come.
