Hugh Hefner is making the October issue of Playboy only 60 cents to purchasing customers. He is doing this in effort to get his audience to watch the launch of the new upcoming NBC show "The Playboy Club."
One of the stars of the show, Laura Benanti, is on the October cover and centerfold of the magazine. The tactic is said to be working thus far because the magazine's editorial director, Jimmy Jellinek told the Chicago Tribune that rates were up 70 percent from last years. Jellinek also said that this issue is somewhat of a love letter to the vintage readers of Playboy. It represents the "special 60s."
The magazine will hit newsstands on Friday.
