McDonald's launched its own television channel that plays in their restaurants for dine-in customers. It is one of the "most unusual twists in niche programming," according to LA Times. It has exclusive original content designed for customers eating in the restaurant. The programs are customized to specific communities of each McDonald's location (local news and entertainment features, such as spotlights on upcoming films, albums and TV shows).
The McDonald's channel is being rolled out slowly during the next few months and will soon be up in 800 McDonald's restaurants in Southern and Central California. The key factor is that the programming isn't all about McDonald's, it's supposed to be about the consumer.
