Personalized campaigns via Facebook

Marketing companies are trying new ways to develop new offering that that seek out more information of Facebook users with the aim of targeted messages, promotions and offers. Technology companies are helping companies build applications for users to download off Facebook to see what promotions are being offered, however, in exchange the company receives access to their personal information: age, gender and email address.

Using this technology allows companies to tap in get users names allowing the company to see previous search & purchase history. By getting this information it will let companies have a more personalized campaign.

Some major companies looking into this are Walt Disney and Sephora.

"Understanding our guests' past stays, favorite experiences and attractions, entertainment preferences and desires allows us to create the most magical vacations possible," says Tom Boyles, senior vice president of global customer managed relationships at Disney Destinations. "Social media is adding to our core 'Know me' strategy" in a significant way, he adds.
